Bishop’s Stortford College

Client: Bishop’s Stortford College
Agency: Maia Films
Format: 6-part video series for the launch of their new website
Type: Brand films/Website anchor videos

Bishop’s Stortford College was in the middle of a major rebrand — and they needed video content that could bring their new identity to life on a completely redesigned website. This wasn’t about filling a page — it was about repositioning the college in the eyes of prospective parents and students, showcasing a more modern, welcoming, and forward-thinking school culture.

The challenge? Capturing both the scale and the subtlety of the college’s offering: from academic rigour and pastoral care, to sport, music, and the vibrancy of daily life — in a way that felt cohesive, polished, and emotionally resonant.

The Bigger Picture: Why strategic brand storytelling matters

Video isn’t just about “showing the school” — it’s about helping people feel the school. And when you’re asking families to invest in a long-term relationship with your institution, emotional connection becomes just as important as academic data.

The college needed to:

  • To modernise their image and remain competitive among top-tier schools
  • To visually reflect the values expressed in their new branding
  • To build trust with prospective parents by showing real staff and students, not actors
  • To give their new website a visual anchor that felt cohesive, compelling, and premium
  • To create a versatile asset bank of footage for future use in social and admissions content

🙌 Projects like this are a great example of how purpose-led video production can:

  • Build brand affinity and distinctiveness
  • Clarify tone and values in a way static copy can’t
  • Create a long-term video ecosystem for websites, social media, and recruitment events
  • Give marketing and admissions teams assets they can repurpose again and again

Behind the Scenes

The shoot spanned five days, and at times, we split into two teams to efficiently cover different locations and scenes. We did a lot of walking! We used three Canon C70 cameras throughout, with one often mounted on a dolly to add dynamic movement. To achieve a softer, cinematic look, cine filters were used to lift the shadows and create a gentle, refined aesthetic. My favourite scene to film was definitely in the pool — it captured the elegance and energy of the school in a visually stunning way.
